Meet Our Sitters
I was born and raised in the scenic mountains of Western Maryland. As a teenager, I moved with my family to Frederick, MD where I met my husband. We have three beautiful children, 4 dogs (1 Labrador Retriever, a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois and 2 Chihuahua’s) as well 3 cats, 2 bunnies, 2 birds, 1 turtle, chickens and lots of fish. Ever since I was a little girl I always dreamed of working with animals. When I had children I made the decision to be a stay at home mom. With my youngest child starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2012 I made the decision that it was time to jump back into the workplace. At first, I became a pet sitter with Beyond Barks and had so much fun getting to work with all different types of animals that it was an easy decision to purchase the company when it became available. I purchased Beyond Barks in the summer of 2012 and haven’t looked back since. I am involved in everything that happens at Beyond Barks on a daily basis. This ranges from setting up appointments and scheduling to walking animals and meeting with prospective clients. I have been a pet owner all my life and have extensive knowledge in handling all different types of animals and breeds. Beyond Barks has cared for everything from hermit crabs to horses. I am very patient when handling animals, very understanding of their needs, extremely gentle, and energetic in everything that I do. I have completed the requirements for Dog First Aid as set forth by the American Red Cross. Beyond Barks is a member of PSI (Pet Sitters International) and NAPPS (National Association of Pet Sitters). I am also a member of the IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals) and a graduate of Catch Canine Trainers Academy. Along with pet sitting I am also a professional dog trainer. Most of my spare time is spent watching my kids play sports. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, entertaining and spending time with my family and friends. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your pets better!
Hello…my name is Shannon and I am a passionate advocate and owner of rescue animals for over 20 years. I enjoy animals of all types and currently have two rescue dogs, Zephyr and Chloe,, and two rescue cats, Sammy and Dean. Having been exposed to a wide range of furry creatures since a very young age, caring for animals has always been second nature to me. After experiencing my own ups and downs in trusting my pet’s care with others, I decided I wanted to be a part of a team that offers reliable and quality pet services allowing pet owners peace of mind. I am a parent of two very energetic, wonderful children and am also a photographer with a wide variety of subject interests, including animals. I enjoy biking, reading, spending time with friends and family and just relaxing. I hold a psychology degree and was employed in my field for 10 years. Now I am beginning an exciting new chapter with Beyond Barks!
I am a life-long Maryland resident, a graduate of LaSalle College and a retiree from State Farm Insurance Company. After retirement, I volunteered with the Frederick Police Auxiliary, City of Frederick Parks and Recreation Dept as Park Enforcement Officer and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Community Assistance Patrol. I thoroughly enjoyed “law enforcement” work but my heart is with my little family..my 3 wonderful girls: Lilly Rose and Lexi Jo and Lucy Noel. I’ve either owned or cared for pets most of my life. This includes working on my brother’s farm in Middletown scraping the barns, raking hay, spreading manure, feeding stock and many more things. While I’ve mostly owned dogs I did have one parakeet who thought she was human and have also tried my hand at freshwater fish. I thoroughly enjoy my association with Beyond Barks, LLC and giving loving, attentive care to your family members. I am trained in Pet CPR and First Aid in the event of an emergency but also have a Ph.D. (Pet Handling Degree) in ball throwing, tug toy snatching, hide and seek, petting and snuggling. Whatever your pet needs, I’m there to assist! I believe in loving and gentle care for every pet so their experience with me is a positive one. I also wholeheartedly believe that pets give “unconditional love” and deserve no less from me! I’m looking forward to meeting you and your pets soon!!
I grew up in Frederick and have always been a caregiver. From people to pets, I love all animals and have had many different types while growing up. Our family has owned dogs, cats, rabbits, a bearded dragon, chinchillas, birds and 2 pet rats. I have an 8-year-old Shih Tzu named Mazie who was a very sick puppy when I got her but with a lot of love and care, she is now a healthy girl. I also own a rescued Pit Bull mix named Talia who is full of energy. When I am not working I love to go camping and really enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. I am looking forward to caring for your pets and working with Beyond Barks!
I am a life-long Frederick County, MD resident, and I was raised in Walkersville, MD. I grew up with dogs and animals my entire childhood. My family owned a beagle, a dachshund, and 4 Labrador retrievers, two of which still live with my mom. We rescued 2 older black labs when I was in college. We also had gerbils, hamsters, and lizards. I am an animal lover, and could not imagine a life without them! I feel they are a blessing and a joy that is unmatched in life. I currently live in Frederick City with my two handsome dachshund boys, Dexter and Tucker. Dexter is a 3-year-old chocolate and tan long haired dachshund, and Tucker is a new edition to my family, only a puppy, who is a beautiful, rare, cream-colored long haired doxie. They are both the sweetest, most patient dogs I have ever owned, and they love to cuddle.
I graduated from Hood College in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History. I also played college softball at Hood. I earned my Master’s of Science Degree in 2011 from McDaniel College in Exercise Science and Physical Education. I am currently the Head Varsity Softball Coach at Tuscarora High School where I just completed my 4th year there. I also work at Tuscarora High in the Special Ed Department, working with students who have learning disabilities, such as autism. I enjoy being active, and my life revolves around my dogs and coaching. I find those two things are essential to my happiness in life!
I have a soft spot in my heart for taking care of animals in need. My lifelong dream is to buy tons of land and open a rescue sanctuary, maybe someday! I am so excited to be a part of Beyond Barks, and cannot wait to provide continued love and care for your “fur” kids!
I was raised in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Maryland as a teenager. My family raced thoroughbreds so I spent a good bit of time around horse’s growing up. When I got married my wife was a huge animal lover so our fur family has grown over the years. We currently own dogs, a cat, birds, fish and a turtle. In addition to pet sitting, I also work as a project manager for a custom home builder. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, watching my children play sports and building a variety of woodworking projects. I love all animals and enjoy continually learning about how to best care for them at all ages. I am looking forward to caring for your fur family members, both large and small!
Ever since I was born, I’ve never resided in a home that was not complete with both a loving human and fur family. Over the years I have had the pleasure of loving many dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, guinea pigs, fish, turtles, hermit crabs, frogs and a lizard. When I was younger, I rode horses and spent many summers caring for them.
While I have a deep passion for animals, it extends to all things living and I have seen myself attending medical school since I was very young. I enjoy learning about all things science and math related as well doing crafts and DIY projects, spending time with my family and friends and going on walks with my best fur friends Clutch and Asscher. I also deeply enjoy volunteer work and spend a great amount of time doing so while serving as a National Honor Society President and the Frederick County Association of Student Counsels Vice President. When I am not caring for animals I enjoy caring for humans as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I’m looking forward to working with Beyond Barks and meeting lots of wonderful creatures!
Before settling in Frederick County 10 years ago, I moved quite a bit. I have lived in the suburbs of Cleveland, Chicago, and Philadelphia. I even grew up in the suburbs of D.C.! Growing up my sister and I had 2 childhood dogs, a Great Dane named Elsa and a Lhasa Apso named Jedi. As an adult, I became passionate about adopting rescue dogs and have had dogs of my own for over 18 years. I am currently a student at Hood College pursuing my degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have two children of my own who love to play soccer and basketball. When I am not cheering my sons on at the field or the court, or studying, I like to be outdoors. My friends often ask me to pet sit for them since I love their pets just as if they were my own. I am excited to be a part of Beyond Barks and getting to know you and your precious fur babies and other pets!
I was born and raised in Poolesville, MD. I have been a resident of Frederick for the past 13 years where I live with my husband and three wonderful children, two dogs, and one cat. Since adopting a cat the day after returning from our honeymoon, we have always had furry friends in our home. In addition to our own animals, we have fostered 26 dogs over the past year. I have spent the last 10 years working as a substitute teacher to allow flexibility while raising my children. Now that my youngest child is starting kindergarten, I’m excited to start the next chapter with Beyond Barks! I’m excited to share my passion for animals with you and your pets!
I have lived in Maryland since 1974. Since retiring from Fort Detrick, I’ve worked as a contractor for several companies, a floral assistant and a pharmacy tech. My first love has always been animals. Over the years, I’ve owned a basset hound named Jaime, multiple cats and African frogs. Currently, we have a cat named Shadow, adopted from the Frederick County Animal Shelter after our cats Milli and Chloe passed away at ages 21 and 17. I have also volunteered with cat rescue groups and continue to volunteer for the Frederick County Humane Society, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for animal sponsored events and Frederick Memorial Hospital. I also enjoy reading, gardening, cooking, working out and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to working with you and taking care of your pets!!
I grew up in Jefferson, Maryland, and as a child, I soaked up as much animal time as I could. I spent as much time as possible playing with our neighbors’ kittens and dogs. Our family cat lived to be over 20 years old. As an adult, my family added a dog to the mix when my husband and I adopted a rescue dog, Ozzy. When my daughter was born, I took advantage of my time at home to foster puppies and dogs through local rescues and shelters. I look forward to meeting your pets!
Hi, my name is Caitlyn! I grew up in Thurmont but now reside in Downtown Frederick. I just adopted a Chihuahua mix named Crickett, who is 2. I also have a shihtzu named Angel, who is 14. I grew up with 2 other beloved shihtzu mixes, Cookie & Teddy, as well as two rabbits, fish, and a tortoise.
I recently graduated from Towson University with a degree in Family & Human Services. I am excited to work part time as a pet sitter because I have always loved animals! I am excited to meet your animals!
I was born and raised in Maryland where I have resided for most of my life (aside from one year in North Carolina, two and half years in Vermont, and 6 months in Montreal). Frederick has been my home since I was five. I’ve been around animals my entire life with at least one dog or cat present in the family at all times. When I was younger I rode horses and mucked stalls along with spending my summer days either with tall quadrupeds or at nature camps. My current fur family consists of one sweet orange tabby named Peekaboo, and a lively elkhound rescue we call Gracie.
I am taking online classes and studying Illustration. I am also a part-time nanny to some very energetic young children. I’m very excited to join Beyond Barks and assist in the care and safekeeping of others’ fur babies.
Hi, my name is Georgena and I have been raised in Frederick, Maryland my whole life. Growing up my family has always rescued dogs from organizations dealing with abused animals and dogs who have been tested on in laboratories. I couldn’t imagine my life without my animals! I currently have my rescue beagle named Willow who is so energetic and loving despite her unknown past.
I’m currently taking online classes at FCC as I transition from college at Virginia Tech to Coastal Carolina to receive a degree in Organizational Leadership Management. I’ve always had a passion for animals and I’m incredibly excited to join Beyond Barks and work with your animals!
Hey there…I’m Emily! I have lived in Maryland for most of my life and recently moved back home in December. Ever since I can remember I have always had a love and passion for animals. I graduated in 2018 with a degree in Zoo and Wildlife Biology with the goal of one day working in a zoo as a marine mammal trainer. I have experience with all types of animals from dogs, cats, and other pets to sea lions, seals and otters. Currently, I am a dog trainer for PetSmart and loving every minute of it. I am also a new mom to an energetic beagle mix named Copper and I am committed to giving your animals the same kind of love and attention I give my own.
I am originally from Boston Massachusetts. I grew up in a town called Weymouth with a younger brother and sister. While growing up I came to know and love many animals both in my childhood and my early adult years. Whether it was in the neighborhood or pets of my own, I’ve always been passionate about animals. My own pets included two cats, one lab and three German Shepherds. It always brought me joy to spend time teaching and training them as well as playing with them outdoors. After graduating from Weymouth Highschool, I left for the Marine Corps which was always a dream of mine. I worked with many dogs in the military and other agencies such as FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and military working dogs attached to my units. I recently transitioned out of the Marines with an honorable discharge as a Sergeant. I am currently preparing to pursue a college education and serve the community. When I am not busy working, I like to spend my free time with my girlfriend staying active, exercising in the gym, and exploring beautiful Maryland and the surrounding areas. I’m happy to be joining Beyond Barks and looking forward to the wonderful experience and memories to come!
